Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Screen Recorder - XRecorder 2.5.4.4 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Zoom in on the timeline
The new precision editing tools let you zoom into the timeline, making it easier to inspect a smaller section of a recording while working on a cut.
- 02Navigate one frame at a time
Frame-by-frame navigation gives you a more exact way to move through a recording, helping you settle on the point where a cut should begin or end.
- 03Make more precise cuts
Timeline zoom and frame-by-frame navigation work together to support more deliberate cuts in recordings edited with XRecorder's built-in video editor.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Screen Recorder - XRecorder page.

Tips
- Zoom in before making cuts
When editing a recording, use the timeline zoom to get a closer view around the section you want to change. Pair that view with frame-by-frame navigation to choose a more exact cut point. Play back the edited section before saving, especially when you are trimming near a moment you want to keep.
- Choose recording quality deliberately
XRecorder's description says you can adjust recording resolution, quality, and frame rate, with listed options ranging from 240p to 1080p and 15 to 60 frames per second. Consider the kind of clip you are making before recording: a tutorial may benefit from clarity, while a shorter clip may call for different settings. Look in the app's Settings for recording quality.
- Check audio requirements first
The app lists internal audio recording as available only on Android 10 or above. If capturing a game's or app's internal sound matters for your clip, check that requirement before you start. XRecorder also describes recording gameplay and using its editor to trim or split the resulting video.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Screen Recorder changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with InShot Inc. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and current change information. Check that page if you want to confirm the latest details before installing or reviewing the app's update.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the update is not available to your account yet, including during a staged rollout, or when the app is already current for you. Check the app's Play page again later. You can also open the app from that page while waiting; availability can vary by account and timing.
Can XRecorder record internal audio?
XRecorder's description lists internal audio recording without noise, with an Android 10-or-above requirement. Check your Android version before relying on that option for a recording. The listing also describes gameplay recording, screenshots, facecam, and live streaming, but the particular controls available can depend on your device and the feature you choose.
