Select Weekly is a short weekly on the Android app updates that are worth your time. Most updates change very little; each issue picks the ones that do, reads the developer's notes and the app's Google Play listing, and explains in plain words what changed and whether you need to do anything.

What we publish

• A weekly issue with a deliberately short list of apps and a quick verdict on each.
• One page per app with the changes in detail, the version shown on its listing and a link to its official Google Play listing.
• Guides for common jobs, such as setting up a new Android phone, and a small tool that helps you pick between similar apps.
• Older app pages from the catalogue this domain carried before the weekly. They remain online for reference and are no longer updated.

How we choose and check

An app makes the issue when its update changes something readers will notice: a new feature, a setting that moved, a fix for a known problem. The details come from the app's Google Play listing on the day we check it and from the developer's own notes; where something is unclear, the page says so. Updates are released in stages, so the version on your phone may lag behind the one we list for a few days.

Independence

Select Weekly is not affiliated with Google or with the developers of the apps we cover. Advertising on the pages pays for the site, and advertisers have no say in which apps are selected or how they are described. We do not host app files on this site.
