Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Perplexity - Ask Anything 2.101.0 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01General maintenance and fixes
This build's notes cover general maintenance. Perplexity remains focused on answering questions and helping people explore topics through its search and conversation tools.
- 02Worth using: cited answers
Perplexity presents cited sources with its answers, giving you references to consult as you look into a question or explore a topic further.
- 03Worth using: guided Pro Search
Pro Search is described as guided AI search for deeper exploration, making it a useful option when a question needs more than a quick answer.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Perplexity - Ask Anything page.

Tips
- Continue with a follow-up question
After Perplexity answers a question, ask a related follow-up to keep the conversation going and build a deeper understanding. This is useful when a short answer raises another question or when you want to explore one part of a subject in more detail. Keep each follow-up focused so the conversation stays useful to your research.
- Use voice when it suits you
Perplexity supports asking questions by voice as well as typing. Try speaking when you want to phrase a question naturally or when typing is inconvenient, then review the answer and its cited sources. Voice is an input option for seeking answers; you can also continue the discussion with follow-up questions.
- Keep useful discoveries in your Library
Use Your Library to curate discoveries that you may want to return to, rather than treating the app only as a place to search. When you find an answer or topic worth keeping, organize your discoveries there for later reference. The description presents the Library as more than search history, so think of it as a collection.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Perplexity changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with PerplexityAI. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its release information and the latest listing details. Check that page for the current information associated with Perplexity, and use the app's own features and descriptions as presented there.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when an update is not available to install on that account or device yet, including while a release is being made available in stages. Check the app's Play page again later. If an Update button appears, use Google Play to install the listed release; otherwise, Open launches the installed app.
Can I ask Perplexity questions by voice?
Yes. Perplexity's description says you can seek answers by typing or speaking. Voice is one way to put a question to the app, and you can continue exploring with thread follow-ups. Answers include cited sources, which you can consult when you want context or want to pursue a topic beyond the initial response.
