What changed this week

These are the three changes in Zangi - Private Messenger 6.6.1 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.

Zangi - Private Messenger 6.6.1
  1. 01Choose how first contacts reach you

For a first message or call from someone outside your saved Zangi contacts, the app now offers Accept and Block options, giving you a choice before continuing.

  2. 02Decide about new group invitations

When someone adds you to a group, Zangi now presents Leave and Accept options. That gives you a decision point instead of automatically staying in a group.

  3. 03Report groups and improve stability

Zangi adds group reporting that activates an automated ban algorithm, and the build also lists system enhancements, performance optimizations, bug fixes, and ANR fixes.

Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Zangi - Private Messenger page.

How we write the digest

Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.

FAQ

Is this the official list of Zangi changes?

No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Secret Phone, Inc. The app’s Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and current change information. Check that page if you want to confirm what Google Play currently shows for Zangi or whether the listing has changed since this editorial was written.

Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?

Google Play may show Open when the latest build is already available to the app on your device, or before an update reaches everyone through a staged rollout. Check the Zangi listing again later if you expected an update, and use Google Play’s own page as the reference for availability.

Do I need a phone number to register?

Zangi’s description says registration does not require a SIM card or a phone number, and says you can register without sharing personal contacts. The app uses a Zangi Number: other users cannot find your profile unless they know that exact number. Share it with people you trust so they can reach you.
