Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Local Weather Forecast 4.28.1 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Weather data source modified
The build notes identify a change to the weather data source. Forecasts and current conditions are central to the app, so this update concerns the information behind those views.
- 02Bug fixes included in this build
The notes also say bugs were fixed. That is a practical maintenance change for an app used to check forecasts, radar and weather details during everyday planning.
- 03Forecasts and radar remain useful
The app offers forecasts alongside a live rain-cloud radar, giving you different ways to check expected conditions and view rain and wind information.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Local Weather Forecast page.

Tips
- Compare hourly and daily forecasts
Open a city’s forecast and compare the hourly view with the daily outlook when planning around changing conditions. The app describes forecasts up to 14 days ahead, with details such as temperature, precipitation, air pressure, wind speed and humidity. Check the relevant time period rather than relying on a single current reading.
- Use radar to check rain
Open the live rain-cloud radar when you want a visual view of rain and wind information for an area. The app describes the radar as showing rain-cloud conditions, amount of rain and wind direction. Use it alongside the forecast to get a broader picture before making plans affected by weather.
- Make the weather map useful
Set up the weather map with the cities you regularly care about, using the app’s described support for forecasts across as many as 10 cities. This can make it easier to compare locations without repeatedly searching for them. Choose places that matter to your plans, such as home and a destination.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Local Weather Forecast changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Tools Dev. The app’s Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and release information. Check that page for the current details associated with Local Weather Forecast before installing, and use Google Play as the reference for availability on your device.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play can show Open when the available app listing does not offer an update at that moment. Releases may also reach people in stages, so availability can vary. Check the listing again later if you are expecting this build, and install through Google Play when it presents the option.
How far ahead can I check the forecast?
The app description says hourly and daily forecasts are available for each city up to 14 days ahead. It lists details including temperature, precipitation, air pressure, wind speed and humidity. The description also covers a live rain-cloud radar and a weather map that can show forecasts for up to 10 cities.
