Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Firefox Focus: No Fuss Browser 158.0 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Bug fixes and technical improvements
This build's notes cover bug fixes and technical improvements, supporting the browser's quick, minimal approach to searches you want to keep separate.
- 02Worth using: one-tap history clearing
Worth using: tap the trash button to erase your browsing history, passwords, and cookies when you finish a separate browsing session.
- 03Worth using: tracker blocking
Worth using: Focus blocks many online trackers by default, including social trackers, and its description says this can help pages load faster.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Firefox Focus: No Fuss Browser page.

Tips
- Clear a finished session
When you are done with a separate browsing session, tap the trash button to erase the history, passwords, and cookies listed in the app description. Make this a deliberate finishing step: clearing the session removes those items from Focus, so do it after you have finished using any page or information you still need.
- Pin favorite sites for quick access
Add up to four shortcuts to your home screen for sites you visit often. This can save typing when you want to open a familiar destination quickly, while keeping Focus's main screen simple. Choose sites you are comfortable placing there, since a home-screen shortcut makes them easy to open from outside the browser.
- Use Focus for separate searches
Open Firefox Focus when you want a quick search kept separate from your main browser. Its design starts with the search bar and keyboard rather than tabs or a list of recent sites. Tracker blocking is on by default according to the description, and you can clear the session with the trash button afterward.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Firefox Focus changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Mozilla. Google Play's Firefox Focus page is the authority for the app's official release information, including the current description and change notes. Check that page for the listing associated with the app before installing, and use its developer information to confirm you have the Mozilla app.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the latest build is not being offered to your account yet, including during a staged rollout, or when the app is already current for you. Check the Firefox Focus page again later. If Google Play offers Update, you can install it there; otherwise, opening the installed app is the available action.
What does the trash button clear in Firefox Focus?
The app description says the trash button clears browsing history, passwords, and cookies with one tap. Use it after a session you want to keep separate, once you no longer need those items in Focus. It is a clearing action for the information named in the description, not a substitute for reviewing any saved information elsewhere.
