Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Google Home that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01New features, improvements and fixes
This build's notes group the release under new features, improvements and bug fixes. Google Home is the place to check compatible devices and manage parts of a connected home.
- 02Check your home at a glance
Google Home presents home status and helps you catch up on what you may have missed. Dashboards group devices, while streamlined organization makes settings easier to navigate.
- 03Review camera events and history
The camera interface brings live view and event history together, so you can check a camera's current picture or review what happened earlier.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Google Home page.

Tips
- Group devices into dashboards
Use dashboards to group the compatible devices you check most often, such as the products you want to reach from the home overview. A tidy grouping can make everyday controls easier to find. The exact devices and controls shown depend on what is compatible and set up in your home.
- Review camera live view
Open a compatible camera's live view when you want to see what is happening now. Use the camera history interface to look back at events and get context about what happened. Camera features require compatible products, and availability can vary by region.
- Try asking your home
If Gemini for Home is available to you and your devices are compatible, try asking for a device action in everyday language. This gives you another way to control a connected home alongside the app's device controls. Regional availability and product compatibility apply.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. Select Weekly is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Google Home changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Google LLC. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its listing and release information. Google Play also points readers to a Google Home notes page for what's new, so check the official listing if you need the latest details for your installation.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the update is not currently offered to your account or device, including during a staged rollout. Check the app's Play page again later. If an update appears, use Google Play to install it; the app listing remains the place to confirm what is currently available.
Do I need compatible devices to use Google Home?
Yes. Google Home is intended to set up and control compatible Nest, Chromecast and Google Home devices, and some products and features may not be available in all regions. Without compatible products, the connected-home controls and camera features described for the app may not be available to use.
