Maru - ComicViewer/TextReader 4.13.8: what changed
Maru is a reader for files you already have, with options for comics, text, PDFs, EPUBs, and compressed archives. The current notes cover bug fixes; these are three useful parts of the app to know.
What changed
- 01Bug fixes in this build
The notes for this build describe bug fixes. Maru’s broader role is to open supported files as book-like reading material, whether those files are stored on your phone or a web server. The app does not provide novel or manga files by default, so you’ll need to supply the content you want to read.
- 02Worth using: comic reading
For comic files and image collections, Maru supports common picture formats as well as archive and comic-book formats. Reading options include left-to-right or right-to-left order, a landscape two-page view, zooming, page navigation, bookmarks, and several page-turning effects. PDF pages can be zoomed up to eight times, with a sharpening option when zooming in.
- 03Worth using: text and EPUB
Maru can open TXT, CSV, subtitle formats, EPUB, and compressed text archives. The reader lets you adjust fonts, size, spacing, margins, character encoding, and text or background colors. Other available tools include bookmarks, text search, quick navigation, text-to-speech controls, and a slideshow, giving you several ways to work through longer files.

Worth knowing

The app can open supported archives directly, and an update installed through Google Play keeps your mail, data, and settings.
